What is CrossFit Strongman?
Contrary to popular belief, CrossFit Strongman is a program that has been developed for both men and women of all shapes, sizes, and ages. Its purpose is to integrate strongman movements into the CrossFit model that revolves around constant variation. Through this, we encounter fun and exciting ways to increase our strength while simultaneously enhancing our overall fitness. In Short, CrossFit Strongman is a pathway for all people to gain strength and improve as athletes while having fun in the process.

 

Why Do CrossFit Strongman?
CrossFit Strongman has a variety of workout formats and incorporates “odd objects” that would never be seen in a traditional gym. Not only does this present an environment resembling an adult playground, it also helps us better develop functional movements that we frequently use outside of the gym. Since strongman object are less convenient to lift than a barbell, we become more efficient at lifting loads that we encounter in our daily lives, like lifting a grocery bag or even a child. Likewise, our performance will also improve when we return to using more convenient equipment, like a barbell.

The practice of CrossFit will also improve our grip. Although grip is an incredibly important component of working out, it is even more vital for our survival in general. As humans, we constantly grab or hold different items throughout the day. If you tried to spend a day without using your grip, you wouldn’t be able to open most doors, fix or manipulate items, open jars, shake another person’s hand properly, or perform countless other tasks.

CrossFit Strongman can improve our overall fitness and prepare us for any surprises that life sends our way.

 

 

 

Our Program

CrossFit Long Island Strongman is a Sunday morning course that runs within a 6 week block. The duration of each class will be from 90 minutes upwards to 2 hours and they will be held both indoors and outdoors at our “Blue Gym” facility. Since the movements are learned quickly, there are no prerequisites to attend.
Our program is open to current CFLI members and non-members alike, but each section is limited to the first 9 athletes that sign up. The following sections will open shortly after the culmination of the current block, so a waiting list will be established for all that are interested.

Strongwomen: Classes begin at 8am at our “Blue Gym” facility.
Strongmen: Classes begin at 10am at our “Blue Gym” facility.
